Frequently Asked Questions?

Easing your child’s fears and what to tell your child In addition to safety, we
work hard to ensure your child’s experience is as pleasant and comfortable as
possible. As a parent, you play a key role in your child’s care and it is important that you begin preparing them for the procedure. Let your child know
he or she will be having dental work, and be asleep during the rocedure.Taking steps to explain and relieve anxiety about the coming events will improve your child’s experience. Your composure as a parent is essential. Nothing calms a child more than a confident parent.

Is office-based general anesthesia safe for children? General anesthesia is safe in the hands of experienced Anesthesiologists. Using state-ofthe-art monitoring and equipment, Dr. Trautman can ensure a child is asleep, comfortable, and safe during the procedure. The skills and medical judgment he has refined over years of hospital work caring for critically ill children and adults during complex operations should give you confidence that your child will be well cared for.

How much will it cost? Dental work under general anesthesia is less expensive in a dental office than in a hospital or surgery center. Fees for general anesthesia are based on the length of the procedure. Your dentist can provide you with an estimate of how much time he or she will require to complete the dental work your child needs.

Our office staff will contact your insurance company to obtain benefits for the services scheduled. We will then give you a cost estimate based on the amount of time the procedure will take. General anesthesia payments are handled separately from those for the dental procedure. The estimated payment is required on the day of the procedure. Acceptable forms of payment are credit card, check, cash or money order.

Health and Dental insurance policies may cover some of the cost of general anesthesia. As a courtesy to our patients, we will bill the insurance carrier on your behalf. However, payment is ultimately the responsibility of the patient.
